The Rolling Stones Sell Their Logo for $92,500

Happy Day-After-Labor-Day! Here's a fun story for you: I bet you've all seen this famous lips-and-tongue graphic before, right?

Yep, it's the world-famous Rolling Stones logo, nearly as iconic as the popular rock band itself. Well, it turns out the graphic has just been purchased by London's Victoria and Albert Museum. The image sold for a whopping £51,375 ($92,500), whereas the original artist, John Pasche, got a measly £50 for the design. Composition-wise, it's fairly simple, yet the visual impact is strong. By now, it's well-known across the globe:

The Framed PosterZ above is from the Rolling Stones' Bigger Bang tour, which I confess I did not attend. Nonetheless, the Stones were a big part of my upbringing - kind of by osmosis! They were always on the radio and MTV when I was growing up, so they're very nostalgic for me. The song "Just Waiting on a Friend" is etched in my memory forever because it was played so much.

Besides, you have to hand it to the Stones, still going strong after all these years. Good ol' Keith Richards even made a cameo as Jack Sparrow's father in the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean. Here's a classic black & white photography print of Richards, music history's most infamous scallywag:

These days, my husband adds Rolling Stones music tunes to the random mixes he makes for my iPod, so I get regular doses of them during my day. It's kind of like listening to radio in the '70s and '80s, kind of as though the Stones are as popular today as they were back then - which they are! Clearly, iconic music never dies.

Until next week...!
